Every spring, Campiglia Marittima fills with a special energy: over a thousand swifts return to soar above the village, turning the sky into a living, resonant spectacle. It’s the season of the Campiglia Swifts, a natural event that renews itself every year from late March to mid-July. Swifts have always chosen Campiglia as their nesting place, hiding their nests among the stones and beneath the tiles of historic buildings. They are faithful: they always return to the same nest, raising their young in the heart of the village.
The Campiglia Swifts association was created to protect this precious presence, promoting good building practices and raising awareness among both residents and visitors. Those who come to Campiglia can experience this wonder by following the Swift Walk, a route through the village streets to observe and listen to these tireless winged travelers.
In the month of June, the Festival of the Swifts brings the village to life with guided tours and moments of pure discovery.
